A Little Background

You may be familiar with the Peace Corps’ three goals:

  1. To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained Volunteers;
  2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served; and
  3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.

However, there is a less well-known fourth goal: to find a partner who understands you better than anyone else, near or far.

Cara and John met as Peace Corps Volunteers teaching English in Mongolia from 2009-2011. They started dating during the first Thanksgiving, when all the Volunteers gathered in Ulaanbaatar. Five years later, the two finally thawed out in Mexico where John proposed. Now they get ready to head off to new adventures in Ethiopia as a married couple.

Check back here for updates as they come!
